The Friday Five: My Big Ticket Furniture Wish List

It is almost the end of August and I can’t believe it! This month flew by and we will be heading into fall before you know it. It really doesn’t seem like I have been in my house since June. It has been slow going as I settle into my new home. I have avoided any large purchases so far because I want to give some thought to the items I will look at and use every day. I have such great visions for Morning Joy but I am taking my time to gather items that I really love rather than rushing out to buy filler pieces all at once. Today I wanted to share five of the big ticket/furniture items that are on the wish list for my new home.

Friday Five

The first item on my wish list is this sweet bistro pedestal table from West Elm. I love everything about this table. Each one is carved from a Mango tree and it is such a unique and lovely piece. I think it would be so cute to have this table live in a dinning nook in the corner of my formal living room with a couple of sleek parson chairs and fresh flowers, of course.

I have been pining over this next item for a LONG time. I adore the large scale Devon Mirror from Z Gallerie and I think it would be such a gorgeous statement piece to hang above my bed. I love the chunky sunburst design and the combination of silver and gold detailing which totally mesh with my plan in my bedroom.

The painted bar stools from my first house are probably my favorite project to date. I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a killer pub table to make them pop in my new casa. I adore a rustic wood finish to contrast with the modern metal and industrial design of the stools. In my wildest home decor dreams I would want to make a special place in my house for the 1900s Boulangerie Counter Table from Restoration Hardware. We would live happily ever after. Le sigh. I seriously love everything about it.

On the more reasonably priced side of things, I have been on the lookout for a small scale white desk to go in my office space in the basement. I am loving this one from Target. The x slats on the side add a nice bit of character and it is the same design as my teal entry way table.  I think this desk would be so cute paired with one of these chairs, also from Target. The nailhead detail on the chair is fantastic! Since they would obviously be a set, this counts as one item. Just sayin’ … it is my list, I do what I want.

I would love to have a beautiful settee in my formal living room. I have a large picture window original to my 1920’s home and I think it is a shame to block the light with furniture. I think a low/no back settee is the perfect, “instant window seat” answer. I have been checking out  a few options at Target. However, if I’m going to be honest, my dream decor solution is the Clara Apartment Sofa from Pottery Barn. I love the low back/small foot print for my tiny space. The sculpted wooden legs and tufted back add an elegant touch. I also really enjoy the fabric customization options available through Pottery Barn.

So there you have it… my top five big ticket dream furniture items! I’m going to keep saving my pennies to fill my home with beautiful pieces that I love. In the meantime, what items would you love to have in your home if budget wasn’t an issue?
