One of my favorite things about my home is the pedestal bistro table that I picked up from West Elm a few years back. I have had it paired with the tan parsons chairs from my first house but never really liked the look. I wanted to find a cool gray chair with interesting details to match my couch and other chairs. But when I saw this pair of dark purple chairs at Target, I hoped they would be the perfect pop of color in my fairly neutral room.
As as you can tell from the lilacs in this picture, I’ve had these for a few months now. It’s hard to see the color, but they are a deep eggplant color. It has been fun to play with the purple tones in my paint color and they have worked with my holiday decorations surprisingly well. Have you made any bold color choices that have paid off?
Thanksgiving can be a difficult time for many. For me, it brings back some tough memories and even more bittersweet memories of the people I’ve lost. This year, I have decided to use the holiday season as a time to purge all toxicity from my life and focus on the things that mater most.
Working in retail and living away from family, I don’t get to celebrate Thanksgiving in a traditional sense. But I have come up with my own traditions and I still take time to be Thankful for the blessings in my life.
I am so fortunate to have people that lift me up rather than hold me back. I am blessed to have such an amazing support system of loving people. I am thankful for family that is willing to drive 2.5 hours to eat breakfast with me before driving back for their own Thanksgiving meals. I live and own a home in a community that supports the arts. I have my health, comfort, and my faith. I. Am. So. Thankful.
Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving and the start to a joyful, happy, and healthy Holiday season!
Here are a few photos of my fall decor this year!
My favorite fall candle! Leaves from Bath and Body Works. I love it paired with my burlap table runner and a few sparkly pumpkins I picked up from Hobby Lobby a few years back.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably saw the sneak peak I shared last week with my new couch! After ordering it back in December I am so excited to have some seating in my “formal living room.”
I decided back when I purchased my home in June that I wanted to use every inch of space as much as possible. I adore my basement and I think it is one of the most unique features of my home, so I knew that I wanted to keep my TV and living room furniture down there. I have since added a pub table and my desk to the basement. That left my living room upstairs open to be a joined living/dining space. I picked up my beautiful bistro table earlier this fall and I have been keeping my eye out for a small sofa or settee for the space. I wanted to highlight my large picture window which is original to the home and not block any of the natural light. When I came across this one at Target, I knew it would be a great fit. I wanted something lightweight, a good price point, and kind of girly… Because I can. Ha!
My couch came in two boxes and needed to be assembled. I would highly recommend having two people for this job. Or maybe one person that has more than my 5ft arm span. I was able to do it by myself after a considerable amount of blood, sweat, and tears. It was an actual miracle that I was able to finish it without breaking the couch or myself.
I really love how it looks in my living room. I can’t wait to paint the walls, add a faux fireplace, curtains, and get a big comfy arm chair for reading. I have so many ideas for this room! I can’t wait to share as it all comes together!
If you remember my big ticket/furniture wish list from a few months ago, I said that I was on the hunt for a great pub table. One of my favorite projects to date is my set of spray painted bar stools from my old house. I don’t have a counter top bar in Morning Joy and so I debated about where I wanted them to live in my new place. I had a board game table in my first house and I figured that a pub table for games could be a great option! I found a great farmhouse style pub table on Target.com and picked it up during a 20% off sale. They have great furniture promotions in store and online all the time!
I love the distressed farmhouse style and it is the perfect height for my counter height bar stools. Here it is in my basement, with a random apothecary jar full of driftwood as a makeshift centerpiece.
Sorry these are so grainy, the lighting in my basement is very difficult. Which is also probably why you haven’t seen much of it so far, with the exception of my desk. Here is a closer look at the planked table top.
This table seems like a good quality for the price. It weighs about 70 lbs. so it is lightweight enough to move around as needed but not flimsy. I still cannot believe I got it up the steps into my house/down into the basement by myself! Assembly was also very straight forward and I was able to assemble it and stand it up by myself. It is a decent size and could comfortably seat 6. I am even thinking about getting two more stools this spring/summer when it’s warm enough to spray paint!
So far, I am loving it! You all know that I adore my West Elm bistro table, but this is a great option for seating more people or hosting game nights! I still want to get an area rug to anchor this section of the room. I also would like to make a removable chalkboard table top (so much fun for kids/keeping score on game nights) that I can store away between uses. Don’t worry, I’ll be sure to share that project as it comes along!
