One of the things I love most about my home is the location! I love living in West Michigan and enjoy many activities around town. I wanted to create a series that explores some of the great things that this area has to offer.
This week I was able to check out the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex. It is operated by the Muskegon Sports Council, in partnership with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Muskegon Luge Club, and the West Michigan Speed Skating Club. Nestled in Muskegon State Park, the complex offers a variety of winter recreational activities including luge, ice skating, cross country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing.
There is a centrally located lodge with a cozy fireplace, rentals, and concessions. During my visit, I was able to try out snowshoeing for the first time. It was so much fun! The trails are absolutely beautiful. Seriously, you guys, check out the view!
As we trudge through snowstorms and these lingering winter months here in West Michigan, it is so great to have an amazing facility like this to get out of the house and actually enjoy the snow. As a girl who really, really hates the cold; I honestly can’t even believe that I said that…. but it’s so true. So, if you’re feeling cooped up and looking for a way to get out with friends or the whole family, be sure to stop by and check it out!
