West Michigan Wednesday: “A Christmas Story” at Muskegon Civic Theatre

One of the things I love most about my home is the location! I love living in West Michigan and enjoy many activities around town. I wanted to create a series that explores some of the great things that this area has to offer.

West Michigan Wednesday

The weather has been terrible so far this week in West Michigan, but it looks like things are supposed to clear up just in time for “A Christmas Story” to open at Muskegon Civic Theatre! Take advantage of clear/safe roads and get out of the house with the whole family. I really enjoy seeing holiday shows this time of year. It really gets me in the Christmas spirit and I love to support my friends and local artists/actors/designers.

Here is the blurb from their website: “Humorist Jean Shepherd’s memoir of growing up in the midwest in the 1940s follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas. Ralphie pleads his case before his mother, his teacher and even Santa Claus himself, at Higbee’s Department Store. The consistent response: “You’ll shoot your eye out!” All the elements from the beloved motion picture are here, including the family’s temperamental exploding furnace; Scut Farkas, the school bully; the boys’ experiment with a wet tongue on a cold lamppost; the Little Orphan Annie decoder pin; Ralphie’s father winning a lamp shaped like a woman’s leg in a net stocking; Ralphie’s fantasy scenarios and morays.”

Be sure to check it this holiday classic at the Beardsley Theatre running November 21-23, 28-30, and December 4-6. Buy your tickets here!
